The evening started with your graduation ceremony. Given that the rain had ruined any chance of having it outdoors, the Academy reserved the Fulber Theater -- a run-down playhouse in downtown Night City -- for the event. As you are all representative of the top of this year's class, you were chosen as ushers for VIPs who were supposed to be in attendance. VIPs included a representative from the Mayor's office, as well as two members of the city council.
When we opened, the Mayor's representative had just arrived, and the six of you were sent to escort her (and her entourage) to her seat. As it happened, the front door of the theater was inexplicably locked down. Checking the theater's security room, you found the on-duty policeman with his throat cut, and the internal security console destroyed and sprinkled with battery acid.
Further investigation of the security monitors revealed one of your classmates, a young man named Chris Weiss, backstage in the women's dressing room. Armed with a submachinegun, dressed in tactical utilities, and sporting a very fashionable (albeit homemade) vest of plastique and detcord, he seemed to be waiting for something (which you assumed was the Academy Dean's speech).
As Darius "DJ" James kept an eye on the perp from the security booth, David "Sake" Daisuke, Fidel "Yin/Yang" Tokugawa, and Tony Hung maneuvered through the theater's halls to gain access to the backstage area. Meanwhile, Allison Chantry and James "JJ" Johnson kept an eye on the lobby and attempted to break the code on the doors leading into the theater's auditorium.
With only moments to spare, Chantry succeeded in opening the door to the auditorium. Meanwhile, the crew backstage had a sudden encounter with the perp which ended in a single gunshot fired by Daisuke. Weiss, wounded in the head, fell without firing a shot of his own. Of course, this disrupted the Dean's speech, and caused a reasonable amount of panic in the process. The police, notified by DJ's 9-1-1 phone call, arrived and secured the theater.
The six of you were sequestered while the mess was cleaned up. After several hours in isolation on the Academy grounds, you were approached by Sgt. James Rawlins, a detective with Special Investigation (SIn). He informed you that it had been discovered that Weiss was a member of the Bay Area Rapid Terror, a nihilist gang known for perpetrating violent crimes in the most spectacular fashions imaginable. Had the six of you not intervened, the entire graduating class would've been blown into little tiny pieces.
Rawlins offered you a deal: Join a special task force right out of the Academy, and it would provide you with a fast track to whatever divisions or sections you desire within the department. Details of the deal are still forthcoming, but everyone agreed to volunteer, given the implications.
Next game... we find out the details.

First Game - Schedule
I'd like to schedule the first session for Tuesday, May 18th. This gives us just over a week to gather individually or in groups to get characters ironed out. Mark your calendars, and if you have any problems let me know.
